I called Bill Sanderson in the Palm Beach office of Camper & Nicholsons to ask what’s new and he told me of a 61.8m yacht, project named VSY 62, that’s so new she hasn’t been launched yet, but is due in April 2009. The product of over three years hard work by Bill, the owner and Viareggio SuperYachts, the aim was to create the ultimate yacht in terms of both equipment and layout. The result is a yacht with six cabins, including a VIP on the bridge deck, three VIPs on the main deck and a full width master on the forward main deck with panoramic views. Bill says, “The real beauty to me is the machinery which includes twin Caterpillar 3516s and four big Caterpillar generators with one dedicated to a stern thruster/dynamic positioning system.

The VSY 62 has a range of 5,500 miles with miles to spare and has the highest certifications of ABS, MCA and ISM.” Bill also notes that she is the first yacht to get the ‘ES’ certification by ABS, which is the Environmental Safety rating, all in a GRT of 1070. And the best part is that she’ll be ready for this summer’s Mediterranean cruising season.
