Baglietto launches first 50m Fast50 flagship yacht

Italian shipyard Baglietto has launched the first unit in its 50-metre Fast50 series, marking a major milestone for the all-aluminium model first unveiled in 2024 and sold shortly after its debut.

Designed by Francesco Paszkowski, the Fast50 is the flagship of Baglietto's Fast line and has been conceived as a modern interpretation of the shipyard's high-performance aluminium yachts. Delivery of the first hull is expected later this year following outfitting and sea trials.

Measuring 50 metres and remaining below the 500GT threshold, the yacht is powered by four MTU 2000 M96L engines that will deliver a top speed of 30 knots. Naval architecture has been developed by Pierluigi Ausonio, while the interiors have been designed by Francesco Paszkowski in collaboration with Margherita Casprini.

The owner commissioned the project with a brief to reinterpret Baglietto's historic fast yachts, drawing inspiration from Pachamama, Monokini and Rush (a World Superyacht Award winner). Elements of the shipyard's more recent T-line have also been incorporated into the design.

"With the FAST50, we wanted to reinterpret Baglietto’s most authentic DNA – that of the large, high-performance aluminium yachts that shaped the shipyard’s history – translating it into a contemporary platform capable of combining performance, comfort and extraordinary liveability," said Baglietto chief commercial officer Fabio Ermetto.

One of the yacht's defining features is a two-level stern inspired by the T52 series. Fold-down bulwarks expand the beach club area, while a concealed transformer replaces a traditional passerelle to preserve the yacht's clean profile.

As on the T-line, full-height opening windows on three sides of both the main and upper decks create continuity between interior and exterior spaces, while Baglietto's signature cut-out bulwarks strengthen views out to sea. The relocation of ventilation ducts outside the hull structure has also allowed for larger interior volumes.

Numerous automotive-inspired details can be found throughout the design. These include integrated air intakes, stern fairleads modelled on sports car exhausts and a custom "Porsche Chalk" hull finish developed with Italian coatings specialist Boero.

Unlike earlier Baglietto fast yachts, the Fast50 has been developed across three full decks, allowing for a wide-body owner's suite. Two large silk-screened hull windows provide natural light while maintaining privacy.

Accommodation is arranged for 10 guests in five cabins, comprising the owner's suite, two VIP cabins and two twin cabins. Crew accommodation includes the captain's cabin, four additional crew cabins with Pullman berths and a spacious crew mess.

The upper deck features lounge and sunbathing areas both aft and forward of the wheelhouse, where a Jacuzzi has been positioned at the bow. A three-sided opening veranda aft of the wheelhouse houses a panoramic dining space, while a private rooftop retreat has been created with additional dining and lounging areas.

The interiors follow a contemporary design language centred on teak, lacquered surfaces and "burnt" oak finishes. Weight reduction was a key consideration throughout the project, leading to a restrained use of marble and natural stone, while exterior handrails have been fabricated from titanium.

The Fast50 is also fitted with limited-draught semi-tunnels, ensuring safe cruising even in shallow waters

Aft, a flooding garage system can launch and recover a tender of up to seven metres, while a second garage is positioned forward. The yacht is also equipped with Baglietto's shallow-draught semi-tunnel hull configuration, allowing operation in areas with limited water depth.

"This project perfectly represents our vision: sporty yachts with a strong identity, yet architecturally and technically advanced, and deeply tailored around the owner’s lifestyle," added Ermetto.

The launch follows a busy period for Baglietto, which has continued to expand both its Fast and DOM ranges while strengthening its position in the semi-custom superyacht sector.
