The winners of the Monaco Yacht Show’s new sustainability initiative, Blue Wake, were revealed last night during the show’s Grand Opening Night at the Méridien Beach Plaza. Over 400 guests, including Monaco officials, exhibitors from the Blue Wake programme, leading sponsors, private clients and key figures from the yachting industry attended the event.
Launched earlier this year, the Blue Wake programme aims to highlight innovations driving the superyacht industry toward greater sustainability. Managed by the Water Revolution Foundation (WRF), accredited exhibitors gain high-profile visibility throughout the show, creating opportunities for yacht owners, builders, investors and industry leaders to engage directly with pioneering sustainable solutions.
The Blue Wake Awards celebrate outstanding achievements in environmental innovation across four categories. A fifth award, the Special Jury Prize, recognises a yacht that demonstrates exceptional commitment to sustainability.
Nominees underwent a rigorous selection process and were assessed across four key environmental focus areas. Their claims were backed by data and, where possible, verified by third parties. Solutions that met the required standards were shortlisted, after which the jury voted to determine the winners - ensuring that only credible, high-impact innovations driving sustainability were recognised.
"With the Blue Wake Awards, we are sending a clear message: environmental sustainability is not a side topic — it’s becoming central to innovation in yachting,” said Gaëlle Tallarida, Managing Director of the Monaco Yacht Show. “These winners demonstrate how credible, high-impact solutions are already shaping the industry’s future. We also extend our sincere thanks to the members of the jury for their expertise and dedicated time in evaluating and supporting the voting process. Congratulations to all the winners for their outstanding contributions to a more eco-sustainable yachting industry."
Robert van Tol, Executive Director of the Water Revolution Foundation, added: “This year’s submissions reflect tangible progress in how the yachting sector progresses towards increased sustainability. Our role at the Water Revolution Foundation has been to ensure that every solution is evaluated rigorously, fairly, and with scientific grounding. The winners have not only met these standards but set a benchmark for what credible, high-impact innovation looks like in our industry. We congratulate them for leading the way toward a more sustainable future in yachting.
The 2025 Blue Wake Award winners are:
- Tenders / Water Toys: TYKUN
TYKUN was recognised for its H1 hydrogen propulsion system, engineered in Italy and now ready for production. Delivering high performance with significantly reduced environmental impact, the system combines efficiency, innovation, and extensive design customisation - demonstrating TYKUN’s commitment to advancing sustainable maritime technology.
- Luxury Products & Services: Tai Ping
Tai Ping received recognition for its Biophilic Programme, a collection of rugs crafted from undyed, biodegradable fibres such as wool, silk, flax and jute. By eliminating the dyeing process, the programme reduces water consumption by 60% and energy use by 85%, while also cutting carbon emissions. With a natural latex backing that meets safety standards, these rugs provide a durable, eco-friendly alternative to synthetics.
- Nautical Supplier: Deasyl
Deasyl was awarded for its Sustainable Yachting Fuel, a next-generation alternative to conventional marine fuels. Produced through low-energy, green chemistry methods, this fuel reduces CO₂ emissions by up to 93%. It marks a major step toward decarbonisation in the yachting industry, reflecting Deasyl’s focus on sustainability, waste valorisation and responsible innovation.
- Refit / Builder Shipyard: Sanlorenzo
Sanlorenzo was honoured for unveiling the world’s first superyacht equipped with Reformer Fuel Cell systems, developed in partnership with Siemens Energy. Powered by hydrogen derived from green methanol, the system delivers up to 100 kW of emission-free electricity while at anchor, cutting annual emissions by 20–30%. This milestone reinforces Sanlorenzo’s leadership in sustainable yacht innovation.
- Special Jury Award: Reduce, catamaran by SilverYachts
The Special Jury Award went to SilverYachts’ catamaran Reduce for its groundbreaking, low-impact design. Constructed entirely from recyclable aluminium, the vessel’s multi-hull layout and low-resistance Espen Øino International hull ensure outstanding fuel efficiency and extended range. The project stands out for its forward-thinking approach, minimising environmental impact through optimised design, operational efficiency, and the use of recycled, recyclable and regenerative materials.
