Italian yard Cantiere delle Marche (CDM) has launched the third unit in its 44.3-metre Flexplorer 146 series, now named Nasiba.
Commissioned by "young, adventurous owners", she bears a closer resemblance to Maverick, the first in the series, than her other sistership Mat. The two four-deck yachts share an exterior profile by Sergio Cutolo and Hydro Tec, including an extended wheelhouse and a panoramic crow's nest. British studio Winch Design has been selected for the interiors of this particular model.
“The owner envisioned a yacht that could take his family anywhere in the world without compromising comfort, privacy or environmental responsibility,” said Cantiere delle Marche's CEO Vasco Buonpensiere. “Nasiba is a perfect reflection of their approach to life. She is a bold yet refined interpretation of what the modern explorer yacht can be, one that fuses performance, comfort and sustainability into a vessel designed to embrace the world’s most remote destinations with family at its core.”
“Nasiba’s owners had a very specific and particular vision for this yacht, not just in terms of the capability, functionality and layout that would be required to take their family safely and comfortably on an around-the-world adventure, but also in the many unique technical and interior details that would need to be incorporated to reflect their tastes and meet their approach to living, health and wellbeing,” added William Yates of WSuperyachts, the broker who introduced and represented the owner.
He continued: “With the support of the very creative team from Winch Design, and the capable owner’s team, CDM have approached this with an amazingly can-do attitude. From the many steps taken to mitigate EMF, to the infra-red sauna, chilled plunge pool and non-toxic and low VOC finishes throughout the interior, a good solution has always been found. Lastly though, the boat looks amazing!"
Earthy colours, matte surfaces and organic textures define Nasiba's interiors, with "green" materials used throughout. Winch Design has opted for eco-friendly materials such as reclaimed seashell composite, eggshell finishes, Foresso, recycled fishing nets, woven grass and Thames wood.
Standout features include a "green living wall" made from preserved moss and reclaimed seashell composite used throughout the bathrooms. Nasiba's carpets are also made from recycled fishing nets, with palm leather applied to furnishings.
The layout has also been customised to cater to the wishes of its owner, who played an active role in both the creative and technical aspects of the project, closely partnering with CDM and the design studio Hydro Tec to craft a yacht suited for extended living and worldwide exploration.
Accommodation is split across three decks with six cabins for guests and another six for crew. Three guest cabins are found on the main deck, comprised of two twins and a convertible large double cabin that can be transformed into a homeschooling room or studio as needed.
The master suite is positioned on an owner's deck and benefits from a private stern terrace as well as a forward lounge area, which is home to one of two cold plunge pools on board.
Nasiba has the forward-set superstructure typical of the Flexplorer 146 line, making way for a large utility deck, which carries a 10-metre custom tender, crew tender and two Jet Skis. These are launched and recovered by a four-tonne A-frame crane, with the area transforming into an open-air lounging, dining and entertainment space after the fact.
The explorer yacht is powered by twin Caterpillar C32 Acert engines, delivering a top speed of 14 knots and a range of 6,500 nautical miles when travelling at 10 knots. This particular model also has an IMO Tier III-compliant selective catalytic reduction, allowing her to navigate in marine protected areas and sanctuaries such as the Galapagos. Two pairs of electro-driven stabilising fins offer comfortable cruising and improve seakeeping.
According to Buonpensiere, the secret to the success of the series has been its ability to deliver "full flexibility".
"In the 100- to 150-foot [30- to 45-metre] market, customisation is a much-abused word and behind the ‘winning’ formula, the reality is that the owner can just choose veneers, fabrics and a few minor items. We decided to stress the customisation to the limit, offering our international clientele a concept within which each owner can build together with us his own Flexplorer," he added.
The first Flexplorer 146 unit was sold in November 2020 under the name Maverick and another model was sold in November 2021.
