The 38.7-metre Crescent Custom Yachts motor yacht Favor ran aground off the coast of Falmouth in Massachusetts, USA, on Friday 17 July.
According to local news outlet Cape Cod Times the yacht grounded on rocks at around 11.00am (EST) in Woods Hole Pass – a notoriously precarious maritime channel off the southwestern coast of Cape Cod – with 13 people on board, including seven guests.
The US Coast Guard was among the first to respond to the call, alongside the Falmouth Fire Department and the Falmouth Harbormaster. The guests were successfully evacuated from Favor with no injuries reported, while the yacht's six crew members remained on board to assist in the recovery.
In a statement shared online by the US Coast Guard Sector Southeastern New England, a safety zone was deployed around the yacht while a tow boat conducted the salvage. Favor was refloated and towed to the Great Harbor Anchorage area, where marine inspectors are currently conducting a damage assessment.
Favor was built in Canada by Crescent Custom Yachts and delivered in 2000. She was designed by Jack Sarin with interiors by Bill Scales and Barbara Johnsen, offering accommodation for up to 10 guests in 5 cabins.
