US shipyard Delta Marine has announced a new partnership with London-based design studio Bannenberg & Rowell Design on a new "family" of superyachts.
The range will comprise yachts spanning 50 to 75 metres, all designed to combine a contemporary aesthetic with a hybrid onboard propulsion system. The first yacht presented is the 50-metre DELTA + B&R 500, which has been developed as a sub-500GT platform, placing constraints on interior volumes in favour of expanded exterior decks.
According to the collaborating teams, the exterior decks have been designed as extensions of the interior spaces, with social and lounge areas flowing seamlessly throughout the yacht. Initial renders reveal a large aft pool and tiered decks offering multiple al fresco dining and lounge options.
Horizontal elements, sculpted aft bulwarks and "aerodynamic angled canopies" define the yacht's profile, creating a strong and dynamic profile that appears in constant movement. An "intersection of creases" also creates a subtle triangle motif in a nod to the Delta brand. “Our goal was to create a yacht that feels unmistakably Delta while introducing a fresh sense of dynamism and physicality,” explained Simon Rowell, creative director of Bannenberg & Rowell Design.
The range has been created for a new generation of owners, according to the shipyard, aiming to balance dynamic aesthetics with the practicality of long-range cruising, entertaining and watersports.
All yachts in the range will be fitted with a diesel-electric hybrid propulsion system incorporating advanced podded drive units and an integrated energy storage solution. The system combines conventional diesel generation with electric propulsion for versatility across all operating profiles while reducing fuel consumption and emissions.
Michelle Jones, vice president of Delta Marine concluded: “The collaboration forms part of Delta Marine’s broader vision for the future, one that embraces international partnerships, evolving owner expectations, and continued commitment to engineering excellence."
A 65-metre version is also currently under development, with the sub-500GT design said to be scalable across the full 50- to 75-metre range.
