American shipyard Delta Marine and Italian studio Roberto Curtó Design have announced a new collaboration on a 38-metre yacht concept known as Longtail.
Bringing together Delta’s yacht-building heritage with Curtò’s avant-garde approach to design, Longtail is defined by a bold and modern design, penned as such for those who favour yachting as both adventure and art.
Intended for owners to enjoy the sea, the yacht places outdoor living at its core, with an emphasis on openness, human connection and "sun-drenched" days on the water. As such, expansive decks, a generous pool and numerous open-air settings characterise the design, the latter of which takes inspiration from Italy’s famed coastal lifestyle.
The main convivial area on board Longtail is found aft, where a large pool is integrated into a beach club. The cockpit sofas here also slide outward to transform the deck into a vast dancefloor or panoramic lounge - adaptable to any mood and occasion.
Inside, soft, natural materials and refined details and textures have been combined to offer a calm, clean and contemporary aesthetic. According to the shipyard, the atmosphere has been curated to be both "fresh and sensual", helped by plenty of natural light via large, rounded windows in the social areas and lower windows in the guest suites below deck.
A statement from the yard read: "Longtail embodies a refined and contemporary vision of yacht design, where fluid proportions and sculpted volumes merge into a timeless, dynamic silhouette. Inspired by the long tail concept, it recalls the world of aerodynamic forms and elegant performance, reinterpreted through an architectural and marine lens."
According to Delta Marine, Longtail marks a "fresh direction" for the yard. Vice president Michelle Jones explained: “Working with Roberto has been inspiring. His vision is playful, expressive and confident. He’s pushed us to think differently about what a Delta yacht can be."
