Floating Life unveils trio of semi-custom explorer yachts

14 January 2022

Boutique yachting company Floating Life has revealed a new series of semi-custom explorer yachts named the FL Line.

There are three yachts in the series comprised of an FL38, FL42 and the flagship FL47. Each model will be customisable, built with a steel and aluminium superstructure, and sit below the 500GT threshold.

The series has been designed in collaboration with Satura Studio with naval architecture developed by Floating Life and Zero 13, but the superstructure and layout can be customised to the wishes of each owner so every model is a "one-off".

At the top of the range is the 47.3 metre FL47 which boasts accommodation for 11 crew and 12 guests paired with vast exterior areas. A glass-bottomed swimming pool flanked by sun pads on all sides dominates the main deck aft where the smaller models house an al fresco lounge.

Beneath the swimming pool lies a vast beach club with two sea terraces that fold down on either side and an air-conditioned gym that can be closed off from the rest of the beach club thanks to glass panels. When not in use, the area doubles as storage for a large tender.

The FL47 will have a top speed of 15 knots powered by twin Caterpillar C32 Tier4 engines - which are installed across the entire line - for a range of 5,000 nautical miles.

The middle-of-the-range proposition is the 42.8 metre FL42 which is modelled as the "perfect combination of speed and size", according to Floating Life. The technical department at Floating Life designed the FL42 with owners looking to spend long periods on board in mind. One key difference from its siblings is the addition of an optional 'owner’s condo', which is a private space on the top deck comprised of an owners suite, bathroom and private lounge.

The FL38 is the smallest in the range at 38.7 metres in length. Accommodation for a crew of eight with six guest cabins configured as an owner’s suite, two VIPs, one double and two twins (although the cabin configuration can be left to the whim of the owner).

The FL38 is designed with a stepped swim platform that transforms into an open-air extension of the beach club when the tender is launched. The main deck aft is dedicated to al fresco lounging while a Jacuzzi can be found forward of the mast on the sundeck and is a feature found throughout the series.

The asking price of each model in the FL line is available on request. It is up to the owner's team to choose the configuration of each boat as well as the shipyard.

Floating Life launched its first K42 explorer yacht in 2018, named Audace, which was recently lengthened to 46 metres following a refit at Italian yard Lusben. According to BOAT Pro, a K43 is currently in build with delivery due in 2022.
