DYDXL Design Forge lifts lid on 45m yacht concept inspired by Rationalist architecture

Italian studio DYDXL Design Forge has unveiled a new 45-metre yacht concept which takes design inspiration from Rationalist architecture -  an architectural style which mostly developed in Italy during the 1920s and 1930s.

The concept, known as Talassea 145, was born from an in-depth study of volumes by designer and studio founder Franco Gnessi. According to the studio, Gnessi saw the "balance, rigour and proportion" of the architecture, shaping the yacht based on clear individual functions which come together in a "harmonious relationship".

When it comes to interiors, comfort and flexibility were key considerations in the design of Talassea 145. The onboard layout comprises four guest cabins, two of which are convertible, and a generous full-beam owner’s suite on the main deck - a feature more commonly found on larger yachts. Elsewhere on the lower deck, there are four double crew cabins and a dedicated mess, while the captain’s cabin is located on the upper deck.

Living areas are expansive and "thoughtfully distributed"; the main saloon acts as the convivial area with lounge, dining and a sit-up marble bar, while the upper deck skylounge offers a more informal environment for relaxing or entertaining if desired.

Though outside is where Talassea 145 comes to life. A beach club with a swimming pool and opening bulwarks aft offers a sea-level terrace for relaxing and easy access to the sea. On the flybridge, there is a sunbathing area with a pool, bar and dining area, providing numerous spaces to relax and enjoy the panoramic views from above. According to the studio, each area is highly versatile and configurable according to the owner’s needs.

In terms of propulsion, the yacht is drawn with a hybrid diesel-electric system with azipods for stable fuel consumption, advanced manoeuvrability and the ability to navigate with zero emissions for 30 to 60 minutes.

"Talassea 145 is not simply a sub-500GT 45-metre yacht; it is a statement of intent, demonstrating how architectural rigour, comfort and sustainability can coexist in a new vision of contemporary luxury, deeply connected to the sea," said Gnessi.

The studio unveiled the 30.5-metre explorer concept known as Hoia100 late last year.
