Italian yard Benetti has taken the opportunity of the Cannes Yachting Festival to unveil a new Oasis 36M model, presenting the latest evolution of its Oasis family based on feedback from owners and captains already cruising on board the series.
The new model has been developed in collaboration with British studio RWD – responsible for the exterior design – with an interior courtesy of Bonetti/Kozerski Architecture. According to Benetti, insights gathered from the existing Oasis fleet have informed changes to the yacht's layout, engineering and onboard systems. Benetti said the new model is centred around four principles: expanded living spaces, hydrodynamic efficiency, acoustic comfort and intelligent engineering.
Outdoor areas have been enlarged across the Oasis 36M, including the sundeck, upper-deck terrace and signature Oasis Deck. Interiors have also been reworked to create greater continuity between spaces, while revised crew circulation routes are intended to keep crew movement separate from guest areas.
The Oasis Deck remains a defining feature of the series, with the new model placing particular emphasis on its connection with the water. Deck-handling systems, including the opening garage doors and fold-down wings, have also been converted from hydraulic to electric actuation. Benetti said this reduces maintenance requirements and eliminates oil leaks, while also reducing mechanical noise and vibration.
On the technical side, the Oasis 36M introduces a newly developed bow bulb from Benetti's R&D department, which the yard says reduces hydrodynamic resistance by more than 10 per cent at a cruising speed of 10 knots. Fuel consumption is claimed to remain below 30 litres per hour per engine at this speed.
The resulting efficiency has allowed Benetti to rethink the yacht's tank capacities. Based on data from the existing Oasis fleet, the yard said owners are increasingly spending extended periods at anchor, prompting it to reduce fuel capacity while maintaining the range required for practical cruising. The space saved has instead been allocated to larger black and grey water tanks, with a combined capacity of 5,000 litres.
The Oasis 36M will also be available with a hybrid propulsion system based on Siemens' Siship EcoProp technology. Benetti said the system can reduce emissions, fuel consumption and noise while retaining the safety of the yacht's conventional shaft-line propulsion architecture.
The model will additionally be fitted with SCR (Selective Catalytic Reduction) systems to reduce emissions. Benetti noted that the technology is not currently required by international maritime regulations for yachts below 500GT.
"Oasis 36M is the product of active listening," said Sebastiano Vida, Head of Product at Benetti. "With dozens of vessels currently at sea, we enjoyed a unique vantage point from which to observe and learn how owners and their crews truly live the onboard experience today."
A new D.gree data-management platform, developed with SailADV, is designed to provide predictive maintenance by combining digital twin technology and structural modelling with machine-learning algorithms. The system monitors the yacht's hull and fluid-dynamic parameters in real time and can identify potential anomalies while predicting maintenance requirements for engines and generators.
According to BOATPro, Benetti currently has 37 yachts on order or under construction.
The yard recently shared a construction update on its full-custom 80-metre superyacht project known as hull FB291 and codenamed Project Iron Man, where the bare new build arrived at the yard's Livorno facilities for outfitting ahead of her scheduled launch date of 2028.
