Geneseas: Italian design team presents 55m penthouse-inspired concept

15 November 2022 • Written by Brooke Murphy

Italian designers Andrea Sala and Francesco Ferrari have teamed up to present a 55 metre superyacht concept called Geneseas.

Geneseas offers an interior volume of 500GT and features an unconventional wheelhouse positioned at the tip of the bow. Nestled between the upper and main decks, this unusual spot was chosen to make way for a spacious upper deck inspired by the layout of New York penthouse lofts.

Ferrari is responsible for the exteriors, while Sala penned the interior designs. To be built in steel and aluminium with a nine-metre beam, Ferrari has created a five-deck design with a number of different spots for guests to explore while they enjoy their time on board.

Meanwhile, inside Sala has brought together influences of styles, realised in subtle patterns and thoughtfully chosen furnishings. The structural styling gives a nod to mid-century design with dark wood ceilings, grooved white walls and discretely textured sink-in carpets. Contemporary splashes seen in lounges, art and formal dining suites blend to create a “unique” and “calming” space across all decks.

The “penthouse” layout on the upper deck creates ample space from stern to bow with relaxing in mind. The open-plan deck aims to exhibit an aft lounge, dining area, day head and outdoor cinema. Elsewhere, a 184-square-metre sun deck boasts further lounging and dining options with a bar and Jacuzzi area for entertaining, while on the main deck a beach club and gym are planned.

Accommodation on board includes six cabins for 12 guests comprising a master and two VIP cabins while the lower deck includes three guest cabins.  Each main deck guest cabin includes a private terrace. Meanwhile, the captain's quarters can be found on the main deck, with five cabins for ten crew on the lower deck, as well as a crew mess, lounge and laundry.

The wheelhouse features a chart area and extendable electromechanical wing stations useful for manoeuvring while generous glazing allows for uninterrupted views.

In addition, 124 square metres of monocrystalline photovoltaic panels will provide 22kw for the hotel load while her tenders are designed to be concealed from the outside.
