Gresham Yacht Design has unveiled an 118 metre concept named Britannia. Put forward as a proposal for the national flagship, the concept is a patriotic 118 metre sailing yacht with a double-height atrium and large exhibition spaces.
“The idea for this design came during BOAT's Design Symposium competition,” said founder and design principal, Steve Gresham. “During that drawing competition, I penned a design that we called Project Albion. It set the foundations from which we developed the design you see today.”
In the interest of being environmentally conscious, Gresham’s national flagship concept harnesses wind power alongside features such as a hydrogen tender and hybrid power when under engine.
Two-storey structural glass windows on either side offer sweeping sea views and inside, a double height atrium can be used as an exhibition space, a ballroom, or a reception area. Offices and meeting rooms also make their way into the general arrangement with a vision to offer functional spaces on board.
The concept is designed to be as versatile and conscious as possible, with multipurpose rooms on board to host special events and private meetings.
