Lürssen launches 104m superyacht Quantum Blue

German superyacht builder Lürssen has launched the 104 metre motor yacht Quantum Blue.

Under construction in the same sheds where the largest yacht in the world – Lürssen's superyacht Azzam – was built, this new project was announced under various names and lengths, originally reported at 102.6 metres. But just last week Lürssen told Boat International Quantum Blue's length would be 104 metres.

UK designer Tim Heywood is responsible for the exterior design while Alberto Pinto can be credited with the interior design. Now launched, Quantum Blue will remain at the yard for finishing before her delivery this year.

Quantum Blue is the third launch from Lürssen this year. She is the largest of the 2014 launches, following the launch of 66 metre superyacht Ester III, ex-Project Green, and the launch of 92.5 metre Kismet, formerly known as Project Global.

The 104 metre Quantum Blue is also the second largest launch this year, following the similarly secretive launch of Fincantieri's 140m superyacht Victory.
