112m Renaissance hosts celebration for Ron Howard's new feature documentary in Cannes

21 May 2026 • Written by Emily Dawkins

The 112-metre Freire superyacht Renaissance was an epicentre of celebrations at the 79th Cannes Film Festival earlier this week, hosting an exclusive luncheon on board to mark the premiere of American filmmaker Ron Howard's new feature documentary AVEDON.

Tracing the life and legacy of celebrated fashion and portrait photographer Richard Avedon, the documentary delves into the artist's personal archives, including never-before-seen stills, intimate behind-the-lens footage and interviews with his closest collaborators, to showcase Avedon's influence on reflecting and reshaping the visual language of the 20th century.

Currently available for charter with Burgess, Renaissance welcomed Avedon's grandchildren on board (Michael Avedon, Matthew Avedon, and Caroline Avedon) to celebrate with the director, alongside the film's producers, chairman and CEO of Ancient, Graydon Carter and Alexander Klabin, and chief executive of Burgess, Jonathan Beckett. Also among the guests were actress Rosemarie DeWitt, manager and producer Courtney Kivowitz, and private Burgess clients.

As the largest and highest-tonnage private superyacht ever built in Spain and one of the largest yachts on the charter market, Renaissance is no stranger to hosting. Designed throughout by British studio Bannenberg & Rowell and launched in 2023, she features expansive entertaining spaces, a dedicated wellness deck and flexible guest accommodation for up to 36 guests.

Notable onboard highlights include a double-height main-deck dining room with seating for 30, a lower-deck cinema seating 19 and a three-sided open beach club at sea level with bar and waterside dining. Meanwhile, her dedicated wellness deck comprises a gym, indoor and outdoor yoga areas, hot and cold plunge pools, a steam room, sauna and treatment rooms.

A foredeck helipad provides easy access on board, or guests can enjoy the four custom tenders, including two limousine tenders - the latter of which guests in Cannes embarked on for the occasion.

For the celebration set against Côte d’Azur’s famed coastline, live cooking stations lined Renaissance's main deck aft pool, with Michelin-calibre chefs curating a menu of delicacies from bluefin tuna chutoro with chives and caviar to wagyu steak tartare on brioche, accompanied by Château Minuty or a Hugo spritz.

Renaissance is available for charter with Burgess from €3,000,000 per week, making her the third most expensive charter yacht in the world.
