Tankoa Yachts begins construction on full-custom 61m Project Dream

8 June 2026 • Written by Emily Dawkins

Italian shipyard Tankoa Yachts has announced that construction has begun on its 61-metre full-custom superyacht project, now known as Project Dream. The keel of the new build has officially been laid, marked with a coin ceremony at its sheds in Genoa, eight months after her sale was announced in September to an American client. Delivery is slated for early 2029.

While details of the superyacht previously remained sparse, Tankoa has now unveiled a first-time collaboration with Horacio Bozzo Design for the concept, layout and exterior design of Project Dream. Dutch studio Sinot Yacht Architecture & Design has been selected by the owner for the interiors, while the naval architecture and basic engineering have been developed by Axis Group Yacht Design.

According to the yard, Project Dream "bridges the gap between a 60-metre and 70-metre platform", offering volumes and qualities usually associated with yachts over 70 metres, while maintaining the versatility and efficiency of a 60-metre build.

She has been conceived around a close connection to the water, with an outdoor-oriented lifestyle that prioritises blurring the lines with interior spaces. As such, an "exceptionally large" beach area on the lower deck features fold-down platforms on three sides, with direct access to a wellness area complete with a gym, sauna and massage-cum-beauty centre.

Three pools have been integrated on board: one on the "unusually spacious" sundeck, designed as the yacht’s main gathering area; the second, aft of the bridge deck; and the third on the forward terrace of the owner’s private apartment on the upper deck. Other onboard features include a cinema lounge aft on the bridge deck for film nights under the stars, and guest accommodation on the main deck.

The yard noted that Project Dream's design identity will be defined by "meticulous attention to detail and a clever use of functional space", with its full custom nature embodying Tankoa’s boutique yacht building philosophy, in close collaboration with Tankoa Centro Stile.

According to BOATPro, Tankoa currently has nine superyachts on order or under construction, including the 72-metre full-custom superyacht known as T720 Fenice, whose sale was announced earlier this year.
