German yachtbuilder YYachts has released new renderings of its Tripp-designed 27.4 metre model Y9. The carbon sailing yacht hit the water for the first time earlier this month at the yard’s facility in North Germany and is set to make her official debut at the Cannes Yachting Festival in September.

The Y9 has a total of three iterations:  the classic Y9, the Y9 Pilot House and the Y9 Custom. All of the models feature naval architecture from Bill Tripp of Tripp Design, while the interior design on the classic is by Norm Architects and Design Unlimited and the Y9 Pilot House and Custom have been penned by Winch Design.

The new Y9 model follows in the footsteps of 27.4 metre Prevail, a full-custom Y9 model which was known as Tripp 90 during construction.

The new sailing yacht has been designed with the utmost flexibility in mind. There is a range of different configurations on offer in the interior, with award-winning, Copenhagen-based studio Norm Architects able to tailor the styling and layout to create a bespoke ambience on the classic model.

The yacht follows a pared-back, Scandinavian theme

According to the yard, the Y9 offers the volume of a 30 metre inside the compact package of a 27 metre.

Onboard highlights of the classic model include a generous beach club with a hydraulic swim platform and an office space integrated into the saloon, complete with a half-height room divider to allow for privacy.

The Y9 model has been engineered with easy maneuverability to ensure the yacht can be handled by a small crew. When not using her 242 square metre mainsail, the yacht can rely on twin Volvo D3-170 engines.

According to the yard, the Y9 “follows a clear design philosophy - reducing all unnecessary superstructure and components to create a clean and minimalist deck. Keep it simple. Look good and sail nicely”.

The yacht was launched earlier this month

The new model will be on display at Port Pierre Canto, where it will be joined by a 22 metre Y7 model.
