During this year's Monaco Yacht Show, the BOAT International Owners’ Club event was held on board the 90.1-metre Corsair Yachts superyacht Nero. The event was sponsored by our annual partners, the Bermuda Tourism Authority and The Macallan, and event partners Voly and SHADOWCAT.
The highlights
The yacht
Commissioned and designed by Neil Taylor and launched in 2008, Nero is based on a 1930s JP Morgan build, Corsair IV. She has had two refits and two owners since delivery and is currently available for charter with Burgess.
For the first refit in 2016, interior designer Laura Pomponi was tasked with the brief of “contemporary, classic elegance” – and Pomponi herself suggests she transformed the yacht from "a gentleman’s club to a lady of the sea". Pomponi and her team brightened the black carpets and dark woods with nautical-inspired furnishings and lime-washed oak.
Her second refit and technical upgrades in 2021 were more focused on making Nero a wellness boat that would appeal to charter clients. She now boasts a sun deck gym, beauty salon and an observation lounge cinema that delivers a truly theatrical experience.
The guests
The event was attended by BOAT's Owners' Club, as well as the World Superyacht Awards judges and senior BOAT International staff.
The food and drink
On arrival, guests were greeted with a dark ’n’ stormy cocktail courtesy of the Bermuda Tourism Authority, which continued to circulate throughout the evening. There was also wine from Antinori and a selection of canapes supplied by Nobu, Fairmont. The Macallan offered a whisky tasting, including the 15-year-old double cask single malt whisky as well as a signature cocktail.
Guests admired the SHADOWCAT model on display and were gifted a limited edition, custom scent to mark the launch of its new concept Sustain.
The entertainment
Entertainment came in the form of a four-piece band, Die Akustischen Vier.
