In build: The finest semi-custom yards from around the world

1 of 31 1/31

Forli, Italy

Semi-custom yachts are very much the best of both worlds — combining the relatively short lead times of production building with much of the flexibility associated with full custom projects. For the August 2017 issue of Boat International, we asked Risa Merl to take a closer look at the top yards from around the world that are raising the bar.

Ferretti produces fibreglass flybridge yachts measuring up to 29 metres. The Italian builder’s most recent launch is the Ferretti 850 (pictured), and another is in build. Also under construction are the new Ferretti 780 and 920 projects, both on track to get a public debut at the 2017 Cannes Yachting Festival. The 28.5 metre Ferretti 920 has aggressive lines to match her 30-knot top speed, while a raised bow design allows for a beamier main deck master suite. Ferretti has been busy refreshing its entire fleet and plans to reveal more new models in 2018.
