Royal Huisman has relaunched the Ron Holland-designed 43.5 metre ketch Juliet following a hybrid conversion. The yacht, which arrived at Huisfit in September 2019, has now been upgraded to accommodate the technological advancements that have taken place since it was first delivered in 1993.
The systems upgrade saw Juliet fitted with hybrid propulsion and power generation systems, which now allow its owners to take advantage of the operational benefits of hybrid sailing, including silent operation, zero emissions, shaft generated power under sail and reduced fuel consumption.
The "centrepiece" of the conversion is the yacht's new gearbox, the yard said, which will allow Juliet to navigate in “zero emission” zones, such as the Norwegian Fjords after 2026.
Royal Huisman emphasised its proven track record in hybrid propulsion after building early hybrid pioneer superyacht Ethereal in 2009.
"Huisfit is offering a number of smart green solutions to reduce the use of energy on board superyachts with 20th-century technology," said Royal Huisman chief executive Jan Timmerman. "A conversion by Huisfit in Amsterdam - from conventional to hybrid - is the ultimate systems upgrade with leading-edge propulsion and power generation."
