43m Royal Huisman Ketch Juliet to Undergo Hybrid Conversion at Huisfit

43m Royal Huisman Ketch Juliet to Undergo Hybrid Conversion at Huisfit

The Ron Holland-designed 43.5 metre ketch Juliet has returned to her home yard Royal Huisman to undergo a hybrid conversion.

The yacht recently arrived at the yard’s refit division Huisfit in Amsterdam and is set to be redelivered in mid 2020.

The hybrid conversion will see Juliet embrace the technological advancements that have taken place since she was delivered in 1993.

The systems upgrade, which will see her fitted with hybrid propulsion and power generation system, will enable silent operation, zero emissions, shaft generated power under sail and reduced fuel consumption.

The hybrid system will also allow Juliet to navigate in “zero emission” zones, such as the Norwegian Fjords after 2026.

3D scanning has already been carried out by the Huisfit team, meaning they are ready to begin updating work on the engine room layout immediately.

Royal Huisman stressed its proven track record in hybrid propulsion after building early hybrid pioneer superyacht Ethereal in 2009.
