Heeus: Bering B145 explorer flagship completes sea trials

7 July 2022• Written by Katia Damborsky

The 44 metre flagship of the Bering Yachts fleet has completed two days of sea trials out of its shipyard in Antalya, Turkey. Named Heeus, the yacht is the first B145 in Bering's line of compact explorer yachts and will make her global debut at the Cannes Yachting Festival in September.

Built in steel and aluminium, Heeus has a generous fuel capacity of 95,600 litres and a cruising range in excess of 5,000 nautical miles at a minimum speed of 12 knots. High-latitude cruising is possible thanks to an ice belt. She can hit top speeds of 15 knots and is equipped with a pair of Caterpillar C32 ACERT engines.

Heeus will make her global debut at the Cannes Yachting Festival in September.

The yacht is also fitted with hybrid propulsion, with the propeller driven by electric motors charged by a bank of batteries. The banks are recharged by high-efficiency, variable-speed DC generators, with docking and mooring made simple in the electric mode.

Heeus’ custom design comes from an in-house team of naval architects and engineers. Initial images suggest a refined colour palette on the interior and a signature Bering exterior, with a rugged silhouette, high superstructure and wide open aft decks.

Accommodation is offered for a maximum of 12 guests in six cabins, with five additional cabins set aside for a crew of 11. The owner's stateroom is located on the main deck and is flanked by glass windows measuring more than 9.5 square metres. A huge saloon with a dining area for 12 people and a lounge area are also located on the main deck.

Onboard highlights include a 40 square metre beach club and a 25 square metre garage for storing tenders and toys.

“We are very proud to have this first hull in the model range to be launched on the water," said Bering Yachts founder Alexei Mikhailov. "This will be the beginning of a new chapter for the Bering Yachts company.”

Heeus will soon be joined by a sistership which is currently under construction at Bering Yachts.
