Italian yard Columbus Yachts has announced a "next-generation" explorer project known as the Crossover 48, with the keel-laying ceremony having already taken place at Palumbo Superyachts' shipyard in Savona, Italy.
The project is being built on-spec: a move that displays Columbus Yachts' confidence following the success of its Crossover 42 and Crossover 47 models. According to BOATPro, the Italian yard has a unit of each currently under construction, with the Crossover 42 scheduled for delivery this year.
The 48-metre yacht is being built on a proven naval platform by Italian studio Hydro Tec, featuring four decks in a steel and aluminium construction alongside a displacement hull for "the most demanding ocean crossings".
Several lounge areas and convivial spaces characterise the model, as does a generous cockpit that functions either as tender storage or a dip pool. Accommodation is across six cabins, including one VIP cabin on the main deck and an owner's suite on the upper deck.
Key specs include an 8.6-metre beam and a draft of 2.75 metres.
More details will be revealed as the build progresses.
