Australian yard Echo Yachts has announced the signing of a new-build custom 50 metre superyacht support catamaran.

The aluminium catamaran is described as “similar” in design to the FRP composite catamaran Charley, delivered by the yard in 2017.

The vessel will be "similar" in design to Charley (pictured)

With a beam of 14.8 metre, the catamaran features naval architecture by One2Three Naval Architects. Key characteristics of the catamaran, which is intended for standalone adventure cruising and superyacht support, include increased fuel efficiency and an extended range.

Accommodation on board is for a total of 20 guests and 17 crew with storage for a range of water toys, a dive store, hyperbaric chamber and helicopter landing pad.

Speaking about the project, Echo Yachts sales and marketing manager Chris Blackwell said: “Adding to the excitement of this new vessel, we are really pleased it fits in nicely with Echo’s ongoing commitment to creating world-class ‘eco-efficient’ vessels here in Western Australia.”

He added that Echo Yachts is currently working with “minimal restrictions and unhindered shipyard efficiency” thanks to a “very safe COVID-19 free environment.”
