Heysea Yachts signs contract for updated 36m Asteria 116 superyacht

1 September 2026 • Written by Éilis Cronin

Chinese shipyard Heysea Yachts has announced that it has signed a contract to build an Asteria 116 superyacht. Construction is already underway on the 35.9-metre motor yacht, which is due to be delivered to her Irish owners in December 2027. Following her delivery, she will be based in the Mediterranean.

The Asteria 116 is one of three yachts from the yard's semi-custom Asteria range, including the Asteria 96 and the Asteria 108, which underwent a full redesign in 2025 aimed at broadening the series' appeal and strengthening the shipyard's position in the superyacht market.

The models were reworked from raised-pilothouse configurations to more contemporary tri-deck designs, with the updated range now also including a flagship Asteria 142 offering.

On board, the updated main deck boasts a large saloon, bar and dining area, with a dedicated owner's suite positioned forward. Here, a standout feature is the private outdoor lounge and hot tub area, which is nestled into the bow to extend the owner's living space outdoors whilst maintaining privacy.

On the upper deck, the wheelhouse and captain's suite are accompanied by a skylounge, which can be converted into an additional owner's suite when needed. A particular highlight of the tri-deck configuration is the sea-facing Cabana lounge at the stern, which provides a relaxed space for guests to connect with the water while participating in watersports and while at anchor.

The Asteria 116 can now accommodate 12 in total, with four lower-deck cabins, including two VIP cabins, for guests. Meanwhile, a complement of seven crew is accommodated across three cabins.

Powered by twin 2000hp engines, the updated Asteria 116 model is expected to reach a maximum speed of 20.5 knots, a cruising speed of 15 knots and a range of 2,000 nautical miles at eight knots.

This marks the second European contract signed by the shipyard this year. Last month, Heysea announced that it had signed a contract for a 35.9-metre explorer yacht, the first in a new series also comprising 45-metre and  54-metre designs.
