Jarrett Bay 90 sportfish superyacht to be built

Jarrett Bay 90 sportfish superyacht to be built

US sportfish yacht builder Jarrett Bay Boatworks has announced it will embarking on the build of its largest custom yacht yet.

The new Jarrett Bay hull No 62 will span 27.4 metres LOA. She is being built for an experienced owner who has had a variety of boats prior. The straightforward owner's brief for the Jarrett Bay 90 was: to use state-of-the-art materials, design and electronics to create the ultimate sportfish boat.

The Jarrett Bay 90 will feature advanced build techniques, utilising titanium and carbon fibre composites, such as in the carbon fibre bridge, cabin, decks and stringer system. Substantial weight has been saved, which will lead to easier handling, fuel efficiency and increased range. Extensive virtual tank testing, actual in-water tank testing and a detailed weight study have been completed to optimise performance.

Jarrett Bay has shared its new flagship yacht will offer comfortable accommodations in six staterooms and five bathrooms, and the master suite, which stretches the nearly seven-metre full beam, boasts an office, which is a rarity on any sportfish yacht.

The Jarrett Bay 90 will carry 4,500 gallons of fuel and is powered by 2,600hp MTU M94s, and she will have an ample range and speed to quickly reach the farthest fishing grounds.

This is another big order for North Carolina-based builder, following the announcement that Jarrett Bay plans to launch new 25m sportfish motor yacht in 2016. This order solidifies the recent trend that sees sportfish superyachts scaling ever up in size.
