The largest-ever fully custom Amels superyacht known as Custom Amels 78 has begun sea trials in the North Sea.

It comes after the 78 metre superyacht hit the water in May 2021 during a ceremony attended by the owner’s team and the designers behind the project, Espen Øino and Zuretti Interior Designers, as well as the Amels and Damen Yachting teams.

"Heading out into dramatic weather today, the Custom Amels 78 blew us away with her powerful lines worthy of any seas," the yard said.

Due for delivery in 2022, the yacht features a 2,850GT interior, superseding the 2,827GT interior of the 83 metre Here Comes The Sun. This will make the 78 metre superyacht the largest Amels yet on its delivery.

First announced at the 2017 Monaco Yacht Show, the yacht will accommodate a total of 14 guests and 26 crew, plus the captain.

Designer Øino previously revealed details about the exterior, including a “large open top deck”, “large aft pool” and “very wide side decks”, which double as private guest balconies. “It’s definitely a unique project,” he added.
