The largest-ever fully custom Amels superyacht has been unveiled ahead of beginning sea trials.
The 78m Custom Amels 78 was rolled out of the shed for the first time since arriving at the yard's Vlissingen facility last year. The yacht will now spend the coming weeks at the Vlissingen City shipyard ahead of beginning sea trials. The yard described the moment as "another major milestone" in the construction of the project.
It comes after 78 metre superyacht hit the water in May 2021. The ceremony was attended by the owner’s team and the designers behind the project - Espen Øino- and Zuretti Interior Designers, as well as the Amels and Damen Yachting teams.
Andrew Tree of Superyacht Technical Services, which is overseeing the build process, said: “The moment a project heads outside for the first time is always very special. It’s impossible not to be proud of reaching that moment and having the opportunity to stand back and really admire how an initial vision has been transformed into reality."
Amels and Damen Yachting Project Manager Daan Langezaal added: "Seeing her in the open air and daylight is a real reminder of her size and presence but also highlights her design and how it has been worked to carry her form beautifully."
Due for delivery in 2022, the yacht features a 2,850GT interior, superseding the 2,827GT interior of the 83 metre Here Comes The Sun. This will make the 78 metre newly-launched superyacht the largest Amels yet on its delivery.
First announced at the 2017 Monaco Yacht Show, the yacht will accommodate a total of 14 guests and 26 crew, plus the captain.
Designer Øino revealed new details about the exterior, including a “large open top deck”, “large aft pool” and “very wide side decks”, which double as private guest balconies. “It’s definitely a unique project,” he added.
