Italian shipyard Silent Yachts has launched the first unit from their flagship solar-electric catamaran series, the SY80, named Sundance. Measuring 24.4 metres, the yacht hit the water at the yard's Fano facilities in Italy as the first 2-Deck version in the series, penned by Marco Casali of Too Design.
Following delivery this summer, Sundance will make her debut at the Cannes Yachting Festival in September.
Available in twin or tri-deck configurations (the 2-Deck, 3-Deck Open or 3-Deck Closed layouts), the SY80 offers owners either a spacious master suite on the main deck or a completely open-plan main saloon, with the master cabin instead located on the lower deck.
Sundance has been constructed with the latter in mind: the main deck features a panoramic main saloon, which the yard claims is "the most spacious in its class", complete with a bar and a relaxed al fresco lounge area. Four guest cabins, including a master cabin and VIP suites, are located on the lower decks, accommodating up to 12 guests.
The upper deck offers twin sunpads in addition to a dedicated helm station for easy steering and 360-degree views. Other highlights include a fully enclosed garage hidden by an aft staircase at the port-side hull, while the starboard side hull offers an additional storage area for water toys.
The ‘Made in Italy’ approach is said to run throughout the flagship build, with particular attention given to comfort and design. Her interiors (also by Casali) are yet to be revealed, but are expected to be filled with natural light thanks to the elongated glazing that decorates her profile. Italian studio MICAD is responsible for the naval architecture.
Labelled its "most complex project to date", the over 24-metre catamaran is host to "all of the sustainable features found on previous yachts, but on a larger scale".
Sundance is capable of reaching top speeds of 12 knots and cruising speeds of seven to eight knots, with her solar-powered battery offering an impressive capacity of 522 kWh to 696 kWh.
The shipyard also announced that it has sold two SY80 3-Deck versions.
