Organisers of The Honours have unveiled further details about its upcoming third edition, which is set to take place on the eve of the 2025 Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show (28 October) at the newly inaugurated Pier Sixty-Six in Fort Lauderdale.
In a first for the awards, all three honourees will be women, each one said to be a "trailblazer in her own right". Due to be officially unveiled on the evening, the organisers hinted at the recipients: one "a visionary reshaping the future of sustainable design", another, "the magician behind some of the most ambitious scientific projects in the world", and the third "a yacht owner whose conservation work is making waves internationally". Each honouree will receive a coveted Bowspirit Award.
Now in its third year, The Honours was curated from within the superyacht industry to celebrate those whose initiatives "advance science, protect the planet, support communities, and inspire others through courage, creativity, and compassion". Nominees are sent from yacht owners and professionals around the world.
In 2025, the judging panel – welcomed by Andrew Doole, president of US Boat Shows at Informa, and led by Farouk Nefzi, CMO at Feadship – received 238 nominations.
"The Honours is not just another awards ceremony," said The Superyacht Life Foundation's executive director, Dilan Sarac. "It is a storytelling platform designed to change perceptions of superyachting by celebrating the people who are using the industry as a vessel for progress. What unites our Honourees is the impact they make – proof that this industry has the power to contribute far beyond its own borders. Personally, I’m thrilled about this year’s event, not least because for the first time, all of our Honourees are women. I can’t wait to share their stories with the world."
Hosted in association with the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show (FLIBS), the 2025 edition will begin with sunset cocktails, followed by ‘stories in the spotlight’ as this year’s Honourees are revealed, later concluding with a celebratory dinner using locally sourced, seasonal ingredients. Guests will also enjoy a "one-of-a-kind live musical performance".
"This event underscores the innovation and humanity within the superyacht community, and gives a global stage to individuals whose work transcends luxury and delivers real change," Doole added. "As the world’s largest in-water boat show, FLIBS is proud to host The Honours in the beautiful setting of Pier Sixty-Six."
