Designer Max Zhivov has revealed renderings for a 48.7-metre superyacht concept controlled by a vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) aircraft.
Created in partnership with Astron Engineering and named Gravity, the concept is devised as a "multifunctional yacht that combines stylisation of a superyacht and a house," according to Zhivov. The vessel is designed to automatically follow the VTOL aircraft over short distances and can operate via remote control thanks to a sophisticated autopilot system.
The wedge-shaped hull is modern in appearance with a swim platform and spa pool that sits flush with the main deck, while the sundeck acts as a landing pad for the aircraft. A living space amidship is enveloped in glazing with an interior planned to be made up of movable 3D-printed walls.
Zhivov said that inspiration for the project came from thoughts around what “recreation on the water in the future can look like” with an eye specifically to the tourism industry.
The VTOL is easily utilised to explore surroundings and disembark when closer to land with the “following” feature fitting for such an occasion.
