From 10-15 March, Design Centre, Chelsea Harbour will once again host a myriad of showcases, events and talks for London Design Week. With up to 120 different showrooms on display and 600 international brands taking part, this week is the ultimate source of interiors inspiration for professionals and amateurs alike.
This year’s event is themed with a greater focus on global design. Showrooms featuring leading brands such as Decca, Villeroy & Boch, Mulberry home and Jim Thompson Fabrics will reflect a distinctly international influence in this season’s styles. The show will also feature a large cohort of designers from cities around the world including Paris, Milan and Boston.
After its previous success, this year’s London Design Week will also see the return of the ‘legends’ category. These special showrooms are decorated by the hottest names in design, using iconic photos of fashion, rock and movie stars as their stimulus. A number of companies have chosen images by legendary photographer Norman Parkinson, and de Le Cuona, and Fox Linton have selected glamorous photographs of Marilyn Monroe and Twiggy to feature in their showcase.
However, this week is not only an opportunity to peruse new furniture collections, fabrics or decorative pieces. With a packed programme featuring guest speakers such as Katharine Pooley, Kit Kemp, and Staffan Tollgard, visitors to the centre have a chance to meet designers and soak up an untapped source of industry expertise. Workshops hosted by industry influencers will cover topics such as how to design the perfect bathroom, advice on home storage and decluttering and even a talk on curating the ultimate design feed on Instagram. Branching out from home interiors, there will also be recipe demonstrations, Q&As and hands-on tutorials.
Entry is free, but seats at presentations and panels need to be booked in advance. Visit dcch.co.uk to secure your spot.
