Royal Huisman Sailing Yacht Metolius for Sale
by Malcolm Maclean
The 25.5 metre sailing yacht Metolius has been listed for sale by Simon J Turner at Northrop & Johnson.
Built in aluminium by Dutch superyacht yard Royal Huisman to a design by German Frers, she was delivered in 1992 as a fast cutter rigged custom sloop with family trips to Alaska and Antarctica under her belt plus a trophy cabinet groaning under the weight of podium finishes in several superyacht regattas. Her interior, designed by Pieter Beeldsnijder, is detailed in varnished teak with an ambience that exudes elegant warmth, accommodating six guests in three cabins.
The master suite is forward to starboard, with a double berth, ample stowage in drawers and lockers, a writing desk and foldaway seat, plus an en suite head with stall shower. Two further cabins are fitted with twin berths on this yacht for sale.
The main saloon is very large with an open plan layout that enhances the sense of spaciousness. A teak inlaid dining table and an L-shaped settee area are to starboard, with two custom dining seats inboard. Outboard to port is a large and comfortable sofa, facing a high/low cocktail table which, in the lower position, secures two custom teak stools. Aft in this area is another custom swivel seat.
The deck layout aboard Metolius was engineered with safety, seamanship and ease of sail handling as primary requirements. The aft cockpit is deep and well protected by the sprayhood, with seating port and starboard, as well as aft. Under power, her top speed is 11 knots and she boasts a maximum cruising range of 2,200 nautical miles at 9 knots courtesy of a 200hp MTU 6R183AA91 diesel engine.
Lying in Greece, Metolius is asking $800,000.
