Following her launch on April 8, Feadship's 42.5 metre Callisto has left the Aalsmeer facilities to begin sea trials in the North Sea.
Formerly known as Project 709, the yacht has been built in aluminium to a design by de Voogt, with Sinot Exclusive Yacht Design handling the interior. The yacht was commissioned by experienced owners who requested a fast and spacious yacht that would fit snugly into her berth in the Mediterranean.
The yacht will have plenty of practise with snug fits, as she navigates a series of hairpin bends and narrow gaps on her journey between Aalsmeer and Rotterdam. As with all of the yachts in its fleet, Feadship will plan every aspect of Callisto's journey to ensure a smooth passage through the Dutch waterways.
The finished Callisto is a fully-custom Feadship that sits just under the 500 GT threshold and is capable of reaching top speeds of 21 knots. To ensure a speed-optimised design, she features a unique bow that reduces pitching and lowers resistance at higher speeds.
The new Callisto borrows style cues from the first Callisto, a 65 metre that was delivered in 2006. Both yachts share the same classic profile and signature Feadship styling, but de Voogt has added sporty touches to the new Callisto to reflect her speedier capacities.
Al fresco living was a key component to the yacht's design brief, and Callisto offers plenty of outdoor spaces to accommodate that. She is crowned by a large sundeck with plenty of shade from the sun and shelter from the wind, as well as a spacious seating area on the bridge deck. Callisto can also accommodate waterfront dining on the swim platform.
Tender storage is located in a lower deck garage, as well as in a hatch-concealed bay in the foredeck that's accessible via a crane and can also host two jet-skis.
Interiors follow a light, bright, Mediterranean-inspired theme. Accommodation is split between a full-beam owner's cabin on the main deck plus two large VIP cabins and two twin guest cabins. All cabins are en suite, and there are further quarters for a crew of eight.
Project manager Pieter de Vries commented, " it has been a genuine pleasure to work again with such knowledgeable clients on Callisto. They had hoped to visit the yard regularly, having loved their time building their first custom Feadship.
"Although the pandemic made this challenging they kept in good touch via virtual meetings and could also leverage on their trust in Feadship to deliver their demands in tandem with the on-site owner's team."
The sale of the yacht was announced in February 2020, with Alex Lees-Buckley at Camper & Nicholsons International handling the sale.
The yacht is powered by twin MTU propulsion engines that give her a comfortable cruising speed of 12.5 knots and a 3,000 nautical mile range at 11 knots.
