Sunreef Yachts has announced the launch of the first unit from its "groundbreaking" Sunreef 100 Eco sailing catamaran series. The 29.3-metre new build hit the water at the shipyard's facilities in Gdańsk, Poland. She will now enter the final outfitting phase ahead of sea trials, after which she will make her world debut at this year's Monaco Yacht Show.
The catamaran was commissioned by a repeat Sunreef owner with a growing interest in innovative technologies that enhance the cruising experience without compromising on luxury, comfort or performance. The project's sale was announced during the 2022 Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show, with construction commencing in early 2023, according to BOATPro.
Said by the yard to be a "major step forward in sustainable yachting", the all-electric model features twin 360kWh electric engines, a 770kWh battery bank and Sunreef’s proprietary solar power system, which sees solar panels integrated into the hull, superstructure and bimini for continuous clean energy generation.
The Sunreef 100 Eco has been designed for extended periods at sea and as such, offers generous living areas and accommodation. A key feature of the design is its large Ocean Lounge to the yacht's aft, which has been "ingeniously redefined" with an invisible garage for two jet skis, water toys and a dive locker nearby. Here, twin fold-down bulwarks and an expansive aft platform open the area into a "seaside terrace" for sunbathing, socialising, water sports and more.
On board, there is a full-beam main saloon with an owner's suite forward. A passageway to the foredeck of the yacht is deliberately narrow and can be closed off at the request of the owner to ensure complete privacy. Elsewhere, the yacht features “responsibly sourced or recycled finishing materials” as well as an energy-saving air conditioning system. Accommodation is for a total of 12 guests alongside a spa, gym, bar and office.
The model can be fitted with a spa pool on the flybridge, but the owner of hull one chose to forego this option.
“With the Sunreef 100 Eco, we are proving that the future of superyachting can be both luxurious and responsible,” said Francis Lapp, founder and president of Sunreef Yachts. “Combining electric propulsion, solar power and the efficiency of sailing, this yacht sets a new benchmark for clean cruising.”
According to BOATPro, the shipyard currently has 33 yachts on order or under development, including a 23.8-metre 80 Sunreef Power NEXT catamaran for international footballer Robert Lewandowski. The Sunreef CEO recently sat down with BOATPro to discuss the yard's ambitious new growth target.
