At the Monaco Yacht Show 2026, Finnish yacht builder Nautor Swan, a brand of Sanlorenzo Group, unveiled new details and shared the official renderings of the first yacht from its new Swan Alloy 44 sailing yacht series. At 43.5 metres, the project – which is currently under construction at the Gouwerok Shipyard in the Netherlands – will stand as the largest yacht ever built by the yard and its first all-aluminium supermaxi.
Hull and deck construction are currently underway, after which the yacht will be transferred to Viareggio, Italy, for final outfitting, launch and delivery, scheduled in 2028. Though construction is not taking place in Finland, the yard emphasised that Nautor Swan’s team will continue to oversee key elements of the programme, including design philosophy, performance studies and supply-chain coordination.
The model was first unveiled during the shipyard's Swan Talks 2025 and stands as the brand's first aluminium supermaxi, characterised by a slender Malcolm McKeon exterior design alongside high levels of customisation, stiffness-to-weight ratio and lifecycle serviceability - of which Nautor Swan's new Italian product development and technical office teams were also involved in developing.
"The opportunity was not simply to design the largest Swan ever built, but to imagine what a true Swan could become at this scale," commented McKeon. "A performance yacht should look fast even when standing still, so every line and proportion has a purpose — communicating capability before the yacht even moves. Aluminium gives us the freedom to explore new possibilities, while the elegance and restraint of the design ensure the result remains unmistakably Swan."
In March, Nautor Swan – which is celebrating its 60th anniversary this year – revealed that the interiors of the Alloy 44 have been designed by Parisian studio Studio Liaigre and combine "style, elegance, comfort and livability". Expansive windows and a seamless connection with the exterior decks have been created to encourage a constant link with the sea throughout.
The upper deck is open and generously sized, with space for conviviality or quiet relaxation, while the atmosphere below provides a more intimate setting with tactile surfaces and a warm tonal palette.
Guillaume Rolland, principal of Studio Liaigre, explained: "Our approach began with the sea. We wanted the interior to feel inseparable from the experience of sailing — not a residence placed inside a yacht, but a sequence of spaces shaped by light, movement and the horizon. This is a yacht defined by minimal yet deeply refined interior design, shaped by exceptional materials and spaces defined not merely by beauty, but by how they can be lived."
Hull one of the new Swan Alloy range has been personally commissioned by Sanlorenzo's executive chairman, Massimo Perotti. “This is my first sailing yacht, and I feel a special emotion after so many motor yachts,” said Perotti earlier this year. “For Nautor Swan, this project opens a new chapter. It takes the brand into dimensions never explored before, while remaining faithful to the values that have defined Swan for sixty years.”
The Swan Alloy 44 features a beam of 9.45 metres, a telescopic keel (allowing a variable draught from 4.3 to 6.3 metres) and an estimated volume of 299GT. Her mast will be produced by Southern Spars, with sails by Doyle.
The 43.5-metre Swan Alloy will also feature dual-energy technology, with expertise developed from both Sanlorenzo and Nautor Swan's hybrid builds. The aim is to achieve full energy autonomy, with onboard generation and storage of energy while sailing.
Nautor Swan will also continue its partnership with Edmiston to support the commercial launch of the Swan Alloy range. The project forms part of the yard's €35 million investment programme, which follows the Finnish brand's acquisition by the Sanlorenzo Group in 2024.
Also at the Monaco Yacht Show this year, the yard revealed the first images of the next yachts in the new aluminium Alloy range, including a 50-metre Alloy 50, penned by McKeon with interiors by Axel de Beaufort, and a 60-metre ketch sailing yacht, which remains secret for now.

BOATPro amounts the shipyard to have five yachts currently under construction, including two Swan 80s, the first of which, Elvi, made her world debut at the Cannes Yachting Festival 2026.
