Otam expands fast planing range with 85GTS yacht
by Chris Jefferies
Italian yard Otam has released the first details of its latest fast planing yacht, a 26 metre called the Otam 85GTS.
Exterior styling is by Niccolò Pasquini and Alessio Riccobaldi of R+P Architecture, while long-term yard partner Umberto Tagliavini developed the naval architecture of the GRP hull, building on the success of the Otam 80HT series, which has spawned four hulls to date.
The most striking feature is the curved retractable sunroof sections built into the superstructure. Described as gullwings, they were inspired by the styling of modern supercars, the yard adds.
The Otam 85GTS will certainly have the performance to match its sporty styling, with a choice of either twin 1,925hp Caterpillar C32 engines or a twin 2,600hp MTU 16V set-up — the latter translates into speeds of up to 45 knots and comfortable cruising at 35 knots when twinned with Arneson surface drives.
Other options include a choice of foredeck layouts — owners can opt for either a spacious sunbathing area or a lounge and coffee table. Back aft, the emphasis is firmly on relaxation and socialising, with a wide open stern providing easy access to the water and plenty of spots for soaking up the sun.
Accommodation on board the Otam 85 GTS is for up to six guests split between three cabins, while the crew quarters is suitable for a staff of two people.
