Vitters sells 50m classic ketch sailing yacht

Dutch yard Vitters announced at the Monaco Yacht Show last week that it has signed an order to build a new 50 metre sailing yacht.

This classically-styled ketch was developed in collaboration with Hoek Design Naval Architects and delivery is scheduled for late 2019.

Construction is due to begin before the end of the month, working to Lloyd’s special service craft rules. The interior décor comes courtesy of Rhoades Young Design and MCM will provide project management services. Comprised of an aluminium hull, centreboard keel and carbon-fibre rig, this 50 metre classic ketch will boast in-boom furling.

Key features include a twin deckhouse configuration, which should allow plenty of light into the aft owner’s cabin and the amidships saloon. Meanwhile, the three-cockpit layout means that there will be separate areas for the owner, guests and tender storage.

Below decks, the interior is described as traditional, with accommodation for up to eight guests split between the master stateroom, a double, a twin and a convertible cabin. Four crew cabins will allow for a staff of up to eight people, and the superyacht gym will provide options for working out on board.

In a statement the yard’s project manager added: "The owner was seeking the finest Dutch quality and admired our previous work. The fact that Vitters has the experience and flexibility to deliver this beautiful yacht in time for the 2019 season was a further benefit and we look forward to exceeding the owner’s high expectations.”

The news comes less than six months after Vitters delivered 43.6 metre Svea, the largest J Class yacht built to date.
