Onboard screens that steal the show

17 December 2025 • Written by Gemma Harris

After a day of adventurous exploration chasing the rays and the waves, sometimes a little downtime is necessary. Whether under the stars al fresco or in a cosy space inside, superyacht cinemas prove movie nights are the ultimate way to unwind. With comfortable seating, popcorn machines and state-of-the-art technology, BOAT rounds up some of the best picks for screen time afloat.

Black Pearl

Little was known about the iconic and unmistakable profile of the 105-metre Black Pearl delivered by Oceanco before she made her way onto the charter market. Today, prospective guests can peruse her extremely sumptuous interiors and amenities, including her endless entertainment offerings. She is the second-largest sailing yacht on the water, a pioneer in eco-conscious credentials and features impressive DynaRig sailing technology. For movie viewing, her mizzen mast transforms into the largest cinema screen at sea, rigging the lower sail for full-sized alfresco cinema nights. Meanwhile, a cosy cinema is also found inside for a more intimate setting, complemented with a glass from the 300-bottle wine cellar.

The 85-metre SilverYachts explorer Bold is home to an enormous screen - or rather nine screens that can be synchronised to show one gigantic image - for streaming videos, looking at navigation information and charts, or watching a movie with the family. The space doubles up as a disco room in the evenings and the screen is hooked up to high-wattage sound via Renkus-Heinz speakers.

Man Of Steel

Another Oceanco yacht shrouded in secrecy before she joined the charter market was the 86-metre Man of Steel, which was newly introduced to guests in 2021. Her state-of-the-art private cinema technology combines thoughtful design with tiered, comfortable seating facing a 10-square-metre screen for immersive viewing. Outside, an aft-deck projector casts movies onto a four by five metre glass wall next to the infinity pool. Aside from screen time, the cream-toned main saloon sets a calming mood with contemporary art and a U-shaped sofa framed by bookcases.

The 66.4-metre Okto, built in Italy by ISA Yachts, was delivered in 2014. An iconic charter player, she brings a family-friendly edge to onboard entertainment with her dedicated cinema suite (complete with popcorn machine), which is ideal for movie nights on anchor. Thanks to the late Alberto Pinto, Okto’s interiors feature a sophisticated, monochrome palette with champagne and silver accents. Other charter highlights include her 6-metre infinity pool, Jacuzzi, gym, and watersports and toy inventory. A regular hangout in St Barths for New Year’s Eve celebrations, she also knows how to throw a party in between relaxing movie time.

Kismet

Entertainment offerings on the award-winning 122-metre Kismet are at another level, including movie watching. The designers took this to new depths with her Nemo Lounge - an underwater viewing and cinema space arranged across three tiers and extra-large windows that frame the shifting underwater scape outside. The Reymond Langton design for the cinema space leans into Art Deco glamour with quilted wall panels, faux sueded accents and polished bronze detailing. Part theatre, part underwater observatory, this cinema is a true standout for film nights.

Pelorus

The vision of Lürssen, Tim Heywood, and Terence Disdale, the 114.5-metre Pelorus blends serious pedigree with a laid-back, “beach club at sea” aesthetic. Following three major refits since her delivery in 2003, the yacht feels contemporary, defined by natural textures and organic curves that create a calming atmosphere. Her dedicated cinema room includes a sink-in sofa, Dolby Atmos sound and a library of more than 120 4K films to pick from. For more intimate viewing, flat-screen TVs are available throughout all guest areas. Beyond movies, a full wellness centre, multiple pools, and generous lounging spaces add to her appeal.

Planet Nine

Named after the hypothetical ninth planet out of reach, the 73.2-metre Planet Nine is built to discover with her ice-classed hull, though her entertainment credentials equally shine. Penned by Tim Heywood, she has an intimate upper-deck cinema that creates a cosy, private theatre experience - so cinematic that Planet Nine herself has appeared on screen in Christopher Nolan’s blockbuster Tenet. Designed for adventures aside from the movie viewing, she has an observatory lounge for panoramic viewing, a dedicated boot room for pursuits and a fully commercial helipad.

White Rabbit

Famed for being the largest trimaran in the world, Echo Yachts’ 84 metre White Rabbit has plenty of space for entertaining facilities like cinemas. Located on the sundeck, the cinema is finished in chequered Tasmanian oak and was designed as an informal area for younger generations to enjoy.  The cinema seats vibrate depending on what’s happening on screen, while the whole area can be shut off for a true cinema experience. Being away from the accommodation also means you can turn the volume way up.

Tatoosh

Nobiskrug’s 92.4-metre Tatoosh was originally delivered in 2000, but emerged in 2023 following an extensive refit and new entry to the charter market. A full cinema is located on the main deck and features plush armchairs and footrests in crimson velvet, offering the perfect place for a private screening or a cosy movie night on board. A starred carpet is reminiscent of Hollywood Boulevard's Walk of Fame - which seems more than fitting.
