Based in Northern Finland, Nautor’s Swan builds performance FRP sailing yachts and superyachts from 16.48 to 35.20 metres.
In 1966, Pekka Koskenkyla founded the shipyard Oy Nautor AB in Pietsaari, Finland. His goal was to draw on the centuries-old Finnish boat-building industry to launch a line of high performance sailing yachts. Koskenkyla engaged noted U.S. naval architecture firm Sparkman & Stephens to design the Swan 36, an early FRP model that had a higher strength-to-weight ratio than comparably sized wooden sloops.
Nautor’s Swan continued to develop larger and larger sailing yacht models, first with Sparkman & Stephens, and later, with well-known yacht designers Ron Holland and German Frers. In 1988, the shipyard entered the superyacht market with the Frer-designed Swan 86, which he followed up with the Swan 112 RS in 1999.
Since 1998, Nautor’s Swan has been managed by Leonardo Ferragamo and a group of investors.
Although Hull #1 has yet to launch, the new Swan 115 – the shipyard’s new flagship – already has proved immensely popular, selling multiple hulls virtually “sight unseen”. Designed by German Frers, this semi-custom yacht is available in two different models, the “Flush Deck” version for racer/cruisers, and the “Semi Raised Saloon” version for owners who plan to focus on cruising.
Swift, high-tech FRP sailing yachts and superyachts with ultra-sleek lines are Nautor’s Swan’s specialities. The shipyard also provides refit and repair services to Swan owners. Through its ClubSwan program, Nautor’s Swan also maintains close contact with owners of Swan sailing yachts around the world by organising annual regattas and rendezvous.
