Italian studio InMind Design has unveiled a 49.9-metre superyacht design known as Interstellar. Bold, black and white lines and an elongated aft deck characterise the concept, which evidently takes design cues from sportier vessels while maintaining an explorer-esque platform.
"The owner I envision [for Interstellar] is someone with a strong aesthetic sensitivity. Someone who values design as a form of cultural expression," explained founder Lorenzo Squadrito. "They're not looking for a yacht that blends in, but one that embodies vision, creativity and identity."
Naturally, the aft deck is the highlight, housing a casual outdoor dining area and a wet sunbathing zone steps away from a generous infinity pool. Directly below the larger pool is an airy, open-plan beach club, which has unfolding bulwarks for 270-degree views and extra sunloungers. Further capitalising on the space, the studio has also included a tender lift, with the area acting as storage while Interstellar is underway.
The concept's futuristic VIP cabin can also be found on the main deck. The bed stares out across curved, floor-to-ceiling windows – benefitting from the concept's unconventional superstructure – while mirrors port and starboard enhance the sense of space.
Formal, al fresco dining for 14 guests can be found one level up, while the sundeck features an intimate coffee table lounge decorated with greenery.
Other highlights include a complementary tender, also designed by the Italian studio, and a full-scale gym with rows of treadmills and sets of weights.
"With Interstellar, we aimed to design something iconic and bold, yet fluid and timeless. A silhouette that could become a statement in yacht design," concluded Squadrito. "We've worked towards a shape that we feel could have existed in the past or the future – something truly evergreen."
Key specs include a 9.5-metre beam and draft of 2.3 metres. Interstellar would be powered by twin CAT engines, though full propulsion specs are undisclosed.
