Dutch yard Royal Huisman has unveiled a new 81-metre sailing yacht series in pursuit of the "perfect custom XXL true-sailing superyacht". Known as Trident 810, the model has Dykstra Naval Architects and Mark Whiteley behind her design and is based on the "proven architectural platform" of the 81-metre Sea Eagle, delivered by Royal Huisman in 2020. The result is a high-performance, flybridge schooner characterised by a long waterline, plumb bow and powerful Panamax rig.
According to the yard, Trident 810 is set apart by the "effortless control" she offers. Despite her impressive sail area (2,580 square metres upwind), all three mainsails can be hoisted simultaneously and "in no more time than it would take to hoist the sails on a yacht half her size".
With this, the yard hopes to encourage "even the most dedicated motor yacht owners" to consider a sailing yacht for their next project. The second yacht in this new series is already under construction, meaning that prospective owners can benefit from a reliable, three-year project lead time.
"Rather than reinventing, it builds on the very best of what has already been achieved, offering owners and crew the rare opportunity to embrace a yacht that is both the essence of Royal Huisman and a true expression of their individuality," said a yard spokesperson.
The Dutch yard last made headlines at this year's Monaco Yacht Show, where it released a new catamaran concept with "hyper-efficient" wing sails inspired by the America's Cup.
