The second unit in the SW108 series, named Kiboko 4, has been launched at Southern Wind's facility in Cape Town, South Africa. Delivery is expected for early 2025, at which point the 35.5-metre will join sistership Gelliceaux on the water. She marks the fourth sailing yacht built by the shipyard for this owner.
As with the first hull, Southern Wind collaborated with Farr Yacht Design on the naval architecture and Nauta Design on the interiors. Southern Wind CEO Marco Alberti explained: "Our design priorities for Kiboko 4 focused on weight optimisation, performance, and aesthetics while maintaining the light, airy Mediterranean ambiance of her interiors." The yacht’s captain was also "deeply involved" in the build process from start to finish.
Kiboko 4 is constructed using a Corecell core for light displacement, with twin rudders and a lifting keel. Her full carbon hull, deck and bulkheads are paired with a carbon mast and boom, complemented by titanium deck fittings.
The yacht has a four-cabin layout, comprising the owner’s cabin forward (in the quietest part of the yacht) and three guest cabins amidships. This arrangement allows for a social area forward of the saloon, which includes living and dining spaces as well as a television lounge. The contemporary "marine-inspired" interior makes use of light oak veneer, with subtle accents of walnut.
A standout feature of Kiboko 4 is her opening transom, which houses a tender garage with space for a five-metre dinghy. The transom also allows the aft section of the yacht to become a beach club for onboard relaxation.
The owner outlined their plans for Kiboko 4: "She will primarily be a family boat, perfect for enjoying Mediterranean summers and, for the first time, sailing across the Atlantic to explore the Caribbean."
On the technical side, Kiboko 4 is powered by twin 300hp Cummins engines, enabling a cruising speed of 10 knots and a top speed of 14 knots.
The news follows the announcement that Southern Wind had begun construction on its sixth SW96 model, with a "regatta debut" scheduled for 2026.
