Interior images of the 34 metre custom Van der Valk explorer yacht Lady Lene have been unveiled for the first time.

The yacht’s design comes from an accomplished team that includes Diana Yacht Design and Ginton Naval Architects handling the naval architecture and Guido de Groot helming the exteriors.

Carla Guilhem  worked on the yacht’s interior styling, adopting an Art Deco theme that gives Lady Lene a refined elegance that balances nicely against her explorer-style exterior.

Curved walls, fluted woods and metal touches in champagne gold feature throughout. The effect is a "calm, timeless and welcoming" space, according to Guilhem.

The custom "explorer-style" motor yacht was commissioned by a repeat client. She features a "wave-piercing bow" with "giant windows" offering panoramic views and wing stations for easy docking, the yard said.

Accommodation is for up to 10 guests split between a bridge deck VIP with a balcony and aft terrace, an owner's stateroom on the lower deck and a further single and two double cabins on the same level.

Tailored to cater to all generations, the yacht is designed to be wheelchair-friendly with an elevator accessing all decks.

A large open plan saloon benefits from high ceilings - a specific requirement from the owners - while all floors are level with no steps or protrusions. Elsewhere, the aft deck doubles as an entertainment area, with dedicated areas for dining and lounging.

The colour scheme throughout is neutral with touches of grey and white. "Our main materials were oak, georgette marble, a lot of leather and suede, and some metal touches," said Guilhem.

The owner's brief was "challenging and adventurous," according to designer Guido de Groot. “We had to start our design by taking into account the very specific interior requirements with respect to height and accessibility.

Only once these parameters had been established on the GA could we embark on the exterior design, and the owners also had detailed aesthetic wishes here, too, including a high robust bow combined with soft curved lines."

"There really was no comparable reference point for an elegant explorer like this, which made this a very enjoyable project”, said Groot.

Powered by two MAN 1650hp engines and equipped with a fast-displacement round bilge hull, Lady Lene can reach a top speed of 18 knots and cruises comfortably at 14 knots.
