Dutch yard Vitters has announced the keel-laying for its custom 63-metre sailing yacht Project Dreamer. Construction has now officially begun in Zwartsluis, the Netherlands, with the client briefing Vitters to create "the largest yacht possible within a 500GT limit".
The resulting mammoth build has meant that work on Project Dreamer is being divided into several sections and undertaken upside down. The next build milestone is scheduled for summer 2026, when Project Dreamer will have her hull turned.
According to owner's representative Greg Monks, the project will "set new standards" within the flybridge yacht category, including "exceptionally low" noise and vibration levels, a hybrid propulsion system and feature fully electric sail systems.
Project Dreamer will also be equipped with a high-performance mast and rigging package from Southern Spars, with an ultimate air draft of 77.5 metres above the waterline.
Project Dreamer is said to have a "clean, timeless" exterior design by Malcolm McKeon, including a radiused transom and the flybridge, which extends across the entire superstructure and provides both dining and lounge seating for guests. Other design features include a mid-lazarette – with a fold-down hull door designed for launching watertoys – and "open, flowing" interiors by Milanese studio M2Atelier, which will incorporate soft textures, natural hues and touches of greenery.
The sailing yacht will soon join two other projects currently underway at Vitters, according to BOATPro. This includes the highly-anticipated "zero fossil fuel" sailing yacht Project 3094.
