Turkish yard RMK Yachts, a brand of RMK Marine, in collaboration with Milan-based design studio Hot Lab, has unveiled a new 50-metre explorer concept known as Petra.
The yacht has been drawn as an ocean-going expedition build, though she is offered in three different interpretations (in regard to outfitting, layout and exterior finishes) to suit owner preferences.
The first is named Aura, presented as the "most lifestyle-oriented" of the designs. The teams described the variation as "softer in character [and] warmer in atmosphere", developed for owners who seek comfort, conviviality and a more relaxed onboard experience. Aura includes an extra guest room on the main deck, additional social spaces and a lower deck entertainment room.
The second offering, known as Core, is presented as the "purest expression of the concept", developed with a seamless interpretation between explorer functionality and Italian design. This interpretation is designed for "intimacy, comfort and family life", offering private retreats alongside a spacious main deck pantry and a signature owner's balcony.
The final offering is named Infinite. Described as the "most expansive and experience-driven" variant of Petra, this design favours flexibility, generous spatial scenarios and a closer connection with the sea. Infinite's explorer amenities and features are endless and include ice class notation, a helideck, large tender and crane capacity, water sports storage, a large main deck pantry and optional hybrid propulsion. The yard noted that Infinite will be able to travel to polar regions and remote islands and undertake transoceanic routes.
“From the very beginning, Petra was never intended to serve a single definition of ownership," explained Cuneyt Okcu, director of RMK Yachts. "With three distinct versions – each offering her own spirit and onboard experience – the Petra series was conceived as a platform that embraces different lifestyles at sea. At RMK Yachts, we believe a yacht should ultimately reflect the identity of her owner, and Petra was designed to let that identity find her own horizon.”
Petra will be constructed with a steel hull, aluminium superstructure and teak decks. In keeping with her explorer nature, she is expected to offer a range of approximately 4,000 nautical miles, with a maximum speed of 16 knots, and will be able to carry and store large tenders, with fold-down bulwarks in her tender garage that transform the area into a beach club.
Inside, the palette will be built around natural woods, refined stones and "technical" surfaces alongside leathers and textured fabrics. The materials have been chosen for their durability and quality as well as warmth, avoiding an "overly decorative" scheme for a calm and welcoming onboard atmosphere instead.
“Our goal with Petra was to design a yacht that feels both timeless and deeply personal: a vessel where architecture, light and space naturally shape the way people experience life at sea," explained Cem Tasdemir, design manager at RMK Yachts.
Enrico Lumini, partner and design director at Hot Lab, added: “The initial inspiration came from the drawing of an anvil. We were fascinated by its sense of strength, precision and sculptural balance. From that object, we derived the main lines that define the yacht’s character, especially the strong geometry that shapes the stern’s 'C' line.”
He continued: “That gesture gave us a powerful visual identity: something solid and almost primal, yet still elegant and controlled. It was the perfect starting point for an explorer yacht meant to convey capability, permanence and confidence.”
Petra is for sale under a joint central agency with Alex G. Clarke of Denison Yachting and Jim Evans of SuperYachtsMonaco.
The shipyard recently announced a collaboration with Espen Øino International for a 50-metre superyacht, which is set to be officially unveiled in Q2 of 2026.
