39m Vitters sailing yacht G2 sold

The 39-metre sailing yacht G2 has been sold in an in-house deal with Will Bishop of Superyacht Partners representing both the buyer and seller. Following the sale, the yacht has been renamed Cervo by her new owners.

With her carbon-fibre hull built in 2009 by Dutch shipyard Vitters' subsidiary Green Marine in the UK, this lifting-keel, world cruising performance sloop was designed by renowned naval architect Bill Tripp, with her original interior by Donald Starkey.

The asking price of G2 has been withheld

The sailing yacht benefitted from an 11-month refit, which involved a new coachroof arrangement and interior design by Nauta Design. The work was carried out by Pendennis in the UK from 2017 to 2018.

Nauta Design created the light contemporary feel

The brokers described her new interior as a "light, simple, clean and balanced design". Open-plan living is encouraged as the saloon and various social areas flow into each other. The minimalist design with light, open-grain oak gives a calming ambience and plenty of natural light floods in thanks to the new glass skylight. Eleven larger hull ports were also fitted to the four cabins which can accommodate a party of eight.

Tripp Design moved bulkheads to enlarge the owner's suite.

The refit design, instigated and executed by Bill Tripp, involved removing her aft deckhouse and creating an open flush deck offering more cockpit lounging space. Bulkheads were moved to increase the owner's suite size and long sightlines make the interior feel larger than it is and, even while ensconced watching the large TV screen in the lower level part of the saloon, one does not feel isolated from the action on deck or surrounding views.

Cervo is a fine example of how an already beautifully constructed yacht can be modernised and adapted for a new owner's requirements. The 171GT sailing yacht, built to DNV classification, deservedly scooped the Neptune for Best Refit at the 2019 World Superyacht Awards.

Cervo has a 3,500 nautical mile range under power with a single 450hp MAN diesel and cruising speed of 10 knots. The 48-metre (above deck) carbon-fibre mast is by Southern Spars and the Doyle Stratis suit of sails includes a brand-new in-boom-furling mainsail. Further upgrades were carried out in 2021-2022 at Orams Marine in New Zealand.

G2's (now Cervo) asking price was withheld.
