Four vessels, including two 24-metre-plus yachts and the 43.1-metre Overmarine yacht Sanctuary, have sunk following a fire in Zea Marina, near the port of Piraeus, Greece. The blaze broke out at approximately 3.00am this morning (13 November), with BOATPro registering that the 24.1-metre Azimut yacht Alkyone was also anchored in close proximity to the incident.
According to local reports, the fire began on the day-trip sailing boat Mirasol, before quickly spreading and ultimately destroying several yachts in the vicinity. Twenty firefighters from the Fire Department and the Coast Guard attempted to tackle the flames for more than five hours, but were unsuccessful.
Sanctuary (delivered as Eva4Eva) belongs to one of four Mangusta Oceano 43 models, designed by an all-Italian team including Alberto Mancini and Pierluigi Ausonio. A successful charter yacht, key features include a foredeck swimming pool and accommodation for 12 guests, including a full-beam owner's suite with fold-down balcony.
No injuries have been reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
This is not the first time Zea Marina has suffered an incident. In August 2024, a fire tore through the marina and destroyed three yachts, including the 42.3-metre Picchiotti motor yacht Libra Y, designed by industry legends Don Shead and Jon Bannenberg.
BOAT International will update the story as it develops.
