Baltic 85 Custom sailing yacht launched
by Miranda Blazeby
The 26 metre Baltic 85 Custom sailing yacht has been launched. The sloop-rigged composite yacht has been built from an E-Glass outer skin, Divinycell foam core and pre-preg carbon inner skin at the Finnish yard’s Jakobstad headquarters.
Construction on the yacht began in summer 2017 and the yard provided an in-build update at the beginning of this year.
Dixon Yacht Design is responsible for both the naval architecture and the exterior lines, while Mark Whiteley Design was handed the yacht's interior décor. Nigel Ingram of MCM provided project management services.
The owner opted for a telescopic lifting keel that can reduce the draft from 4.3 metres to 2.95 metres when required. Accommodation is for up to four guests split between an owner’s cabin and a guest cabin, while the crew quarters will allow for a staff of two people.
Baltic Yachts confirmed the yacht has a conventional shaft-drive auxiliary propulsion system.
Other sailing superyacht projects currently under development at the Finnish yard include the 42.38 metre Baltic 142 Custom and the 34.14 metre Baltic 112 Custom, both of which are due to hit the water next year.
