Heesen Yachts sells 80m flagship Project Cosmos

Dutch yard Heesen Yachts has sold its largest new-build to date in the form of the 80.07 metre Project Cosmos.

Also known as hull YN19480, this fast displacement motor yacht features exterior styling by British studio Winch Design, exhibiting “muscular sportiness and timeless elegance”.

Heesen adds that the 29-knot Project Cosmos will be the world’s largest and fastest all-aluminium motor yacht with conventional propulsion when delivered in April 2022. It is not just the length that makes Project Cosmos such a landmark for Heesen — her total interior volume of 1,700GT is roughly 60% bigger than Project Falcon, which was announced last month.

Furthermore, sales director Mark Cavendish highlights that the combined gross tonnage of these two projects exceeds the entire Heesen 3700 series, which saw ten hulls produced over eight years. By contrast, Project Cosmos and Project Falcon will be on the water in the next four years.

Key features on board Project Cosmos will include a fully-rated superyacht helipad. Capable of hosting a Eurocopter EC135, this space can be easily converted into an al fresco cinema.

Accommodation is for up to 12 guests split across six cabins, including a main deck master suite, bridge-deck VIP and four lower deck cabins. Meanwhile, the crew quarters is suitable for a staff of up to 19 people.

Ease of access is ensured by a crystal elevator running from the lower deck to the sundeck. Al fresco relaxation has been prioritised, with a seven-metre contra-flow swimming pool fed by a waterfall and a superyacht beach club with a walkaround bar. Tender storage will be provided on the foredeck, where Project Cosmos will carry a Winch-designed custom limousine.

Power will come from a quadruple MTU 20V diesel engine set-up, which will combine with the Van Oossanen-designed fast displacement hull for superb performance and cruising efficiency.
