Southern Wind signs new 30m custom sailing yacht
by Holly Overton
Southern Wind Shipyard has announced the signing of a new RP-Nauta 100 custom sailing yacht.
The 30 metre high performance-cruiser, commissioned by a serious yachtsman, will feature exteriors and interiors by Nauta Design with naval architecture by Reichel Pugh Yacht Design. The two have previously collaborated on Southern Wind's first custom sailing yacht Allsmoke, delivered in March 2017.
"The owner is particularly keen on three aspects of the project”, says Mario Pedol from Nauta Design. “Functionality for safe and comfortable navigation, high performances to enjoy racing in the most renowned superyacht regattas, and sexy, appealing design to give the yacht a modern, aggressive and sporty look.”
The RP-Nauta custom 100 yacht will be a powerful 63 tonne all-carbon racer cruiser with a lifting keel, a sleek and elegant flush deck, and a large sail area for performance.
Marco Alberti, Southern Wind Shipyard General Manager, welcomed the new challenge and said, “This yacht will benefit from the experience gained in the last years with the construction of two new series of high performance cruisers, the SW105 and SW96, and from technological innovations mastered building the SW-RP90 custom project.”
The yacht is already under construction at Southern Wind's shipyard in South Africa and is scheduled for delivery in Spring 2020.
